The development of Kansk riverside area

The city of Kansk is located 247 kilometres away from Krasnoyarsk. It is the centre of east zone of Krasnoyarsk region and it’s crossed with federal arterial road M53 . The population ia about 100 thousand inhabitants. The city is located on the river Kan, where it has its name from. The right river bank in the central part of a city — the area that has the most powerful potential. The site, the area about 23 hectares represents waste ground, split apart by the main automobile bridge of Kansk.

Nowadays we can discover a spontaneous growth at the site. There are the cottages which kitchen gardens left to water. There are plans to construct here huge shopping centre. All these circumstances can deprive a quay city even though Kansk experiences a serious lack of public spaces.

The current project — the initiative of the Kansk chief architect Evgenie Frolov, supported and acknowledged by our workshop. The work purpose — to help territory to use the potential as much as possible. A basis of the design proposal — the quay creation.

The quay is one and a half kilometre well arranged park with a Wedding palace, a multipurpose forum, trading passages, restaurants, cafes, the sports complex bounded with a city beach and a boat station. The quay zone is adjoined by a hotel complex and various level dwelling.

In the course of work we not only have created the project of large scale public space, but also have defined a strategy of its creation. The regulations developed and confirmed on the basis of proposed strategy are capable to adapt various stages and rates of the area development. The key moment is tactful input to the project the enterprises of small and average business providing an essential share of investments.
