As a result we get a volume of museum consisting of two parts: a slab, and a slanted tower. The skin of the roof is continuous to grant access of pedestrians and perforated to let daylight penetrate into museums interiors. Sides of both forms have a stone texture to depict a layered structure of tectonic plates, while under belly is an amber colored glazing so that we can see exhibition and insect-like volume of cinema as a once lived, now permanently frozen in space and time objects.
Further research and investigation of urban context helped us to figure out the program of a building. Given lot is situated in the dead-end corner of TU Berlin campus; it is limited by a railroad on the east, by the river on the north. However the proximity of campus, major railroad, bus, and U-bahn stations, connection to river and Berlin Zoo is very promising for development of vivid place. We envision that the pedestrian friendly roof of designed museum can become an important public space of TU Berlin campus and adjacent areas.
